Music for All Hotel Help

Coming to Indy for the weekend for mother daughter shopping trip. I ckd convention schedule and found that Music for All is at the convention center. Any hotel suggestion to help us avoid this crowd would be helpful. I have tentatively booked the Crowne Plaza which will probably be packed.

I forgot to mention we will be in town next weekend, March 21.

Music for All Hotel Help

Hi Annecy,

Were you planning on shopping downtown or going to other areas of the city? If staying downtown for all of your visit, I would park at the hotel %26amp; walk to the mall %26amp; other shopping downtown, which would be easy from the Crowne Plaza. The only inconvenience I see would be that restaurants would be more crowded on a convention weekend.

If you%26#39;re going north to shop at the Fashion mall or Clay Terrace, there are hotels on the northside that would be less crowded.

I%26#39;m sure others on the forum will have good ideas. Have fun.

There are a number of options. And Music For All (a GREAT organization, btw) likely won%26#39;t jam hotels outside of those immediately adjacent to the convention center.

The Downtown Sheraton is just a block NORTH of the Circle, and still very convenient to the shopping and restaurants of downtown Indy without (probably ...) drawing too many conventioneers. I%26#39;ve been mentioning a little known but very nice hotel ON the Circle - The Columbia Club. It%26#39;s a private club, but they do book rooms for non-members. The rates are good, and the facility is a piece of Indy history (very nice, very old-world main floor lounge/restaurant, and walk right out onto the Circle). If you choose the Columbia Club - ask for one of the newly renovated rooms ON the Circle (some of the older rooms are not very nice). And there are almost certain to be NO conventioneers in that hotel, despite it%26#39;s nearly perfect location and old world charm.

On Indy%26#39;s north side, the Sheraton is immediately adjacent to Indy%26#39;s excellent ';Keystone at the Crossing'; shopping mall and restaurant complex. It%26#39;s also just a hop, skip, and jump from I-465 and Keystone Avenue, making it easy to drive from there to either downtown Indy (25 to 30 minutes), Broad Ripple (15 minutes), Carmel (10 minutes), or historic Zionsville (20 minutes). There are a number of other quality hotels on the north side, but the Sheraton is the best for my money due primarily to it%26#39;s connection to the mall and very good quality (it%26#39;s been 2 years since I stayed there though).

We want to stay downtown. I am having trouble accessing the Columbia Club website so I will call. I can also get the Hilton Garden Inn for 116.00 pls tx per night. That appears to be away from the convention center. I guess I will ask the girls where they want to stay. These are two self absorbed 15 year olds who are on a shopping mission.

Annecy,

We stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn last New Year%26#39;s Eve and really enjoyed it. It%26#39;s also in an historic building, so if you can%26#39;t get in the Columbia Club, it%26#39;s right around the corner. Rooms at the HGI are nice %26amp; there%26#39;s a pool, hot tub, %26amp; fitness center. It%26#39;s about half a block off the circle. Hope you enjoy your time in Indy.

Annecy: As mentioned, lots of options downtown. Your price range is pretty important in making a recommendation though. I don%26#39;t think there are any truly bad hotels downtown, though many of them are pretty close to the convention center. The Hilton is a few blocks away but still pretty close. I am with Dave that the Columbia Club is a good choice . . . a different flavor from the typical hotel.

Thanks so much for all the suggestions. We usually travel to Chicago a couple times a year but mostly fly and have never stopped in Indy so I am really looking forward to visiting the city.
