i am looking for vacation destinations within 5 or 6 hours of southern indiana. Would like someplace cool at night to sit in a hot tub and warm during the day where you dont freeze to death walking around. We have been to gatlinburg/pigeon forge numerous time and that kind of weather in march is what we are looking for. You can also include cold march vacation destinations but please specify it is because my mom will kill me if i take her on vacation and there is a foot of snow. However i may be interested in snow mobiling etc... for future trips. thanks in advance for any help.

Hi ilimisscantbewrong,
You may want to consider Branson, MO. The weather should be close to Gatlinburg. The down side is that most of the shows will not open untill April.
Check out the Branson forum and see if it sounds good to you.
Enjoy!

Hey! If you%26#39;re living in southern Indiana, then check out ';Splash Universe'; in Shipshewana, Indiana. It says in your post that you%26#39;re taking your mom, so you may be a bit skeptical about it. But I assure you, it%26#39;s a great place for people of all ages. My family went there last year when we crossed through Indiana during our road trip. It has great dining and shopping right on premises, along with a hut-tub (like you mentioned above) and spa. Besides all that, the entire park is indoors (so you won%26#39;t ';Freeze to death walking around';) and there is a hotel with many amenities right on sight. You can check it out at http://wanawaves.splashuniverse.com/ Hope this helped, and have a great vacation!
If you live in Southern Indiana, you may already know about, or have been to, French Lick. Lots of things to do inside %26amp; really nice.
Chattanooga, Tennessee is right at five to six hours from southern Indiana. Chattanooga is a mid sized city of a little less than 200,000 people and has recently gained regional attention because of its massive revitalization. In the 1970%26#39;s it was the most polluted city in the United States, and now it%26#39;s got a new multi hundred million dollar riverfront and has been acclaimed by Plenty magazine as one of the top four eco-friendly destinations in the world. The city played a major role in the Trail of Tears (a forced removal of thousands of Native Americans), the Civil War, and the early tourism industry in the United States.
Lately its location on the edge of the Cumberland Plateau has made it a mecca for effectively every outdoor sport you can name including by far the largest hang gliding school in the US. Some other top attractions include the Tennessee Aquarium (largest freshwater aquarium in the world), Rock City, Reflection Riding Arboretum, and the Hunter Museum (largest collection of American art in the South). If you%26#39;d like more info, post a thread on the Chattanooga Forum: tripadvisor.com/ShowForum-g54946-Chattanooga…
You might like Asheville, North Carolina
The Biltmore Estate is the most famous attraction, but there are quite a few other things to do in the area as well.

Ditto on Asheville. There%26#39;s not nearly as much to do as in Chattanooga, but I hear the Biltmore is wonderful and the city center is really nice. One could potentially drive down to Asheville, drive through the North Carolina mountains (spending some time in the national forests and North Carolina side of the national park on the way), and then spend the time left in Chattanooga.
