French Lick

My husband %26amp; I are visiting our daughter at IU and since we have been to Nashville, I wanted to see something different. I have been thinking of driving to French Lick for the day. Is it worth a day%26#39;s drive? and what would you recommend doing or seeing for just a day? Thanks for you input.

French Lick

If you like gambling, check out the new casino. Both grand hotels are worth taking a look at (especially the atrium at west baden) %26amp; maybe having lunch at one of them. The grounds around the West Baden Springs Hotel are small, but lovely. There used to be horseback riding at the French Lick Springs Resort, but I%26#39;m not sure if they still offer it. I think it could be a nice day trip, especially if you like historic buildings. Have fun Linn51 whatever you decide.

French Lick

My own opinion is that I can%26#39;t see what the big deal is about French Lick. But then I%26#39;m not into casinos. If you were staying at the fancy resort there, then maybe I could see that. But in terms of a driving trip from Bloomington, I think you would be better off to go to one of Indiana%26#39;s beautiful parks. Nashville is probably the closest town to Bloomington that tourist enjoy. But is designed for shoppers. Now, driving the 66 turns in 11 miles on US 50 between French Lick and Shoals can be fun. But the best time of year for that is with the fall color change.

For the above mentioned horseback riding, the place you want is just west of Paoli, about 10 miles from French Lick. Sorry, I don%26#39;t remember it%26#39;s name right now, but there are clear signs on the highway. I actually think there are a couple of places.

Thank you very much for the info. Since we are not into gambling I think we will forget French Lick. The West Baden hotel is beautiful, but we can see it on the web. We will probably do Nashville again and/or go to Brown County. Thanks again.
