2009 NCAA Basketball Regional Finals

Will be a great time for all. The city really loves basketball and it shows. Great fans from all over the country. Makes for a FANtastic weekend.

Will be in town for the tournament next week and wondered, will they serve beer? I know they don%26#39;t serve alcohol in college arenas, but wondered if they%26#39;ll be allowed to since the games are at an independent venue.

I%26#39;m not sure. I think it%26#39;s a NCAA rule. There are plenty of downtown bars close to Lucas Oil Stadium though that will be open by probably 11 a.m. til 3 a.m. You%26#39;ll love downtown Indy!! Are you staying downtown?

I am a Colts season ticket holder so I am pretty well-versed on Indy. Just wondered if there would be drinkage available at the game.

Not sure. In 1982 went to Final Four in New Orleans. At that time the NCAA wouldn%26#39;t permit it at the games. Maybe they caved in to the lure of the big beer money

NO alcohol served at NCAA sanctioned events!!

That%26#39;s what I am thinking, but I can%26#39;t find anything on the interwebs to prove it.

I%26#39;ll be down this weekend and I can%26#39;t wait! I%26#39;m going to Conseco on Saturday and LOS on Sunday and I%26#39;m stoked.

As far as alcohol served, I%26#39;ve been to college games with and without. I can%26#39;t remember the last NCAA Tournament I attended (2003) if there was or not.

  • First timer at Indy Zoo

Never been to the Indy Zoo before, so if I don%26#39;t arrive until about 1:00 would I have enough time to see everything by 6:00. Also out zoo here in Louisville closes at 6:00 but you don%26#39;t have to be out of the zoo until 7:00. Is that the case here also. We planning on spending a lot of time at the dolphins and ocean area.

    First timer at Indy Zoo

I take my 2 yr old son to the zoo once every week or two for the last year, so I know the zoo like the back of my hand. I assume you checked the times on the Indy zoo website. They differ between weekdays and weekends, and depending on the season.

The Indy zoo is a mid-sized zoo. You will easily get through it in five hours. There%26#39;s enough to see that you will need the full five hours, though.

The dolphin show (FREE) is at 2:30 and 4:30 in the afternoon. You can get tickets at the gate, but if they are ';sold out';, don%26#39;t worry. I have yet to have them take my ticket at the door. Since it%26#39;s free, there%26#39;s no worry about sneaking in.

You%26#39;ll miss most of the other animal shows by coming later, but check the schedule on the guide when you get there. Show times differ by season as well.

As far as the closing time, they are fairly strict about it about a half hour after ';official'; close. I%26#39;ve been chased out before, so I%26#39;ve tested the limits.

    Enjoy!

    First timer at Indy Zoo

The downtown area will be a little more crowded that usual with the college basketball games here but that shouldn%26#39;t affect your zoo trip. The games aren%26#39;t til friday and Sunday. I wouldn%26#39;t be in a rush to leave at 6:00 p.m. Take a drive thru downtown and check out The Circle. By 6:30 traffic heading south towrds KY should be pretty easy. From 5-6 it can back and be pretty slow until you get past the Greenwood exit

I don%26#39;t think you%26#39;ll have any problem getting through the Indy Zoo in 5 hours.

Places to eat and Drink in Muncie

Does anybody know of any resterants in Muncie that offer Gluten-Free. Also any good places to go for the 30-50 age group.

Places to eat and Drink in Muncie

Not sure about gluten-free and it%26#39;s been a few years but...

There%26#39;s a whole bunch of restaurants on the main road (332/Mcgalliard)...Applebee%26#39;s etc.

There%26#39;s also college bars on University in ';the village'; right off Ball State campus. It will likely be less rowdy over the summer. From what I recall, BW3 and Scotty%26#39;s Brewhouse would be less of a university crowd then some of the other bars (Dill Street, The Chug).

Places to eat and Drink in Muncie

Hi wildcat40, most popular resturants are located on McGalliard Rd./Highway332. Scotty%26#39;s brewhouse is a nice place to drink and eat also. It is located at 1700 W. University Ave. I have ate there a few times and was good. It is one of the nicest resurants in University Village. Enjoy your visit.

    Hi WildCat40,

    1. ) Ummm, I am a little embarrassed to suggest this (and I realize you are from New Zealand not Australia) but The Outback Steak House offers a gluten-free menu - just ask before being seated or ask the waitress. All items on the gluten-free menu will have a GF next to it. The Outback is our try at an Australian themed restaurant, but the food is good. If you are interested they have their gluten-free menu posted online:

    outbacksteakhouse.com/foodandmenus/pdf/glute…

2.) Cheese Burger in Paradise gluten- free menu:

    cheeseburgerinparadise.com/pdf/Gluten-Free-T…

    and their website: www.cheeseburgerinparadise.com

3.) Someone recommended Applebees. While that serves good food, I have never found gluten-free foods there, so I will not eat there. You can go to: www.applebees.com and see their menu if you wish.

4.) For fastfood Subway and Wendys both have gluten-free options.

You could have a salad at Subway. Many of their sliced lunch meats are gluten free. Put a bunch of veggies and cheese on the salad. Subway: www.subway.com

Here is Subway%26#39;s list which includes their items with/without gluten:

    subway.com/subwayroot/…AllergenChartCAN.pdf

5.) Wendys baked potato with sour cream and chives is gluten free, their frostys (YUM!), and many of their salads are gluten-free. Their mandarin chicken salad is really good and gluten-free. ***Do check their salad dressings, some are fine, some NOT. The dressing that comes with the mandarin chicken salad is NOT gluten-free, you will have to look at the back of the packets and find one you like without gluten. I use the lite honey mustard. They say their chilli is gluten-free, but many claim they have had reactions to it, so many here stay away. Here is a list of gluten free menu items:

    wendys.com/food/pdf/us/gluten_free_list.pdf

Also, I know that many Meijer grocery stores (not familiar with the Muncie one) just started carrying gluten-free foods. They group them together and they carry GF cereals, crackers, flour, cookies, ect. You can also find some grouped in the frozen section - breads, pizza, ect. Ask someone if you can%26#39;t find them.

I hope that gets you started.

    Take care,

    Snowbrdgrl

A good place to go in Muncie for the 30-50 crowd is a bar named ';Timbers Lounge'; on the corner of Tillotson ave and Kilgore ( which is state road 32). It is a nice place, mature clientele for the most part. They have a good kitchen, I don%26#39;t know about gluten free but they have steak and potatoes, salads,...good food, and I presume some gluten free options. Also a pub down town named ';Heorot'; on Walnut st., or Margaritas at La Hacienda (on Madison st.) or Puerta Vallarta ( on Wheeling or Tillotson) are popular with the age group.

I would recommend MCL Restaurant and Bakery. It%26#39;s located at the mall. It%26#39;s filled with healthy options.

I think there%26#39;s a restaurant called Thai Smile in Muncie. It%26#39;s right near the stadium, phone # 765-289-8989 I%26#39;ve been to their sister place in Fishers %26amp; although I found the food mild (we call it Thai Mild at our house), they may have gluten free options. Have fun.

    indiana live

does anyone know how indiana live, in shelbyville is compared to hoosier park? has anyone been to ind. live casino yet?

    indiana live

Went last weekend--really liked it--Was there in the daytime and the casino was really nice. We had a drink in the Makers Mark bar and it was really cool. The staff at the bar in the center of the casino were kinda rude and not very friendly.

Beware of price gouging on phone rates by Knights Inn in...

I was charged $23.97 each for 2 less than 3 minute phone calls while staying at the Knights Inn in Seymoud Indiana on 10/19. That was a total of $47.94 for 2 phone calls. Cost of the room was only $42.18. Beware and don%26#39;t use the phone while staying at this one. I%26#39;m sure this will never be posted and no one will ever see it but it makes me feel better knowing I tried to warn people about this price gouging. I believe Knights Inn owes me $40.00.

Beware of price gouging on phone rates by Knights Inn in...

Hotel/motels all over the US. do this. Maybe all over the world. I thought everybody knew it. This kind of thing is routine. Not nice, not ethical, but routine, I assure you.

Beware of price gouging on phone rates by Knights Inn in...

I%26#39;m glad you warned us---we stay at the knights Inn in Seymour every year, and so far we have never been charged anything for using the phone--of course the calls we make are usually just local.
