INDY Hotel with a view

Interested in a suite type room if possible--i%26#39;m partial to waterfront (which ones have water views?)--with scenic walking nearby, or a walking/bike path? Heard about new Clay Terrace shopping too, will probably check that out. Wondering if there%26#39;s nice hotel with lovely setting/view on northside? Saw Marriott North online and is on somewhat of a waterfront. I have reservations at Embassy suites currently in a business type location area, looks tropical and is recently refurbished it says. That might be just fine, the downtown Embassy was completely booked.Residence Inn on the canal booked too--I actually thought that one might be perfect. Conrad is booked over my dates too. Just wondered if I was missing a ';perfect fit'; to try.

The embassy suites on the northside is in a business location. The Marriott north would be closer to shopping and many choices for restaurants and more to do. The water you speak of would be the White River very dirty and not much in my opinion. Downtown is the place to stay if you don%26#39;t have a car. Everywhere else you will need a car to get around.

Sadly, Indy is lacking on the waterfront hotels...because we have little water to speak of. The Marriott North is on a man-made lake. I believe you could walk around the water there. But if you want to walk to shops/restaurants, you%26#39;ll be taking your life in your hands. You definitely need a car on the north side.

If you are willing to gamble, you could book somewhere else and wait until last minute for the downtown hotels. The Embassy Suites and Residence Inn dowtonw may have vacancies at the last minute. Typically there are conventions in town, and I%26#39;m certain you could find a last minute cancellation. There%26#39;s lots of places to walk to - we enjoy walking and biking along the canal.

If you are not willing to gamble, I%26#39;d choose the Marriott North over the Embassy Suites North just because you want to walk. Embassy Suites North is in a business area with a Costco and a couple restaurants next door. There%26#39;s definitely no where to walk to from there.

THanks SO MUCH for your help with my decisions! (o;

Yeah, I thought about chancing booking the first available night downtown, and hoping for a cancellation the second night, but they did tell me at the property it would be risky to do so. No guarantees.no fun to repack and try to find something else the next night, would rather not have to ';resettle'; for the 2nd night.

So I wondered about the new Renaissance in Carmel or the Residence inn in Carmel, and just be by Clay Terrace for some of the fun, (sidewalks for my early morning exercise walk around there? So many pretty trees now, would be nice to simply be able to admire local colors) then drive downtown for part of the day to ';play';. MOron Trail sounds pretty, and maybe my morning walk on that trail? IS there a property within walking distance to that morning stroll? I imagine I%26#39;ll need to drive to it as well.

.

It appears we will need to drive to our recreation/shopping areas. That%26#39;ll be ok. We are driving in from 2 hrs away, just thought it would be nice to simply walk around from our hotel,but we sure can hop in the car to head up to Carmel for Clay Terrace, or to downtown to walk the canal,shops and restaurants. I like going for exercise walk in the mornings, so maybe that%26#39;ll just have to be around the business areas,ponds,or whatever is close by unless it%26#39;s a heavily traveled road.

Thanks for the help and feedback!

Try to get a downtown hotel for the convenience of walking to places. The Renasance is not close to any walking paths or shopping. It is in a business type area of offices. There are lots of hotels downtown to choose from. Check out indy.org for some more ideas and information. It is the cities convention and tourist website.

Thanks so much, I%26#39;ll check out the site!

took the last room at Crowne Plaza Union Station, rest of properties I checked were either sold out or well over 200$ per nt. Any suggestions about the Crowne?

Did you check the Columbia Club on Monument Circle? They have recently reworked rooms facing Monument Circle (the center of the city - overlooking the Soldiers %26amp; Sailors Monument - with it%26#39;s large water-fall type fountains on either side). There is a great Old World type lounge and bar inside the main floor entrance - a great place to relax and talk or have a drink before you head up to your room, or out for a night on the town.

It%26#39;s very centrally located (clearly) - and there is great people watching on The Circle.

I just looked up info on that one, It does look really nice!Has great location and great reviews. However, is sold out on the dates I need. I will probably try again a time or two, never know!Someone might cancel. Thanks for the tip.

Although I wonder if the reason not showing availability, the reviews about CC say you must be a member of the club or be sponsored in by someone who is a member. It%26#39;s a private club they said.
