Indianapolis or Cincinnati in November?

Hello!

I am planning on taking my wife somewhere to celebrate her 30th birthday in late November. We are planning on going Saturday, November 22-Monday, November 24.

We are trying to decide which city- Cincinnati or Indianapolis- would be more fun for us. We are the same age and this will be our first trip away from our 4 month old baby.

We are looking for fun just walking around and relaxing, going to a couple nice restaurants, and perhaps other entertainment in general. We are not that interested in the bar scene anymore, but are interested in seeing a good band (ex: I heard that the Blues bands at the Slippery Noodle are pretty good).

Can you help us decide?

(Actually I mis-spoke: we are going Sunday Nov 23-Tuesday Nov 25)

Indianapolis or Cincinnati in November?

Both are good in my opinion. If you choose Cincinnati I would stay in Newport or Covington area across the river. Staying in downtown Indy does have a lot to offer. Check out indy.org for some more information on downtown. I agree on the Slippery Noodle for good blues, good drinks, and good food. Both cities have good shopping malls downtown. Both cities have great restaurants downtown. It is really up to you or your wife. Any more questions feel free to ask.

I just got back from Indianapolis, the downtown is great. I think much more to offer than Cincy. There is a canal that has been built, which offers a nice walk along a nice trail. Restaurants are abundent and the downtown is very safe. Also there is a casino about 1 hr from downtown if you want a different nite out. I would vote Indy.

I lived in Cincy for a few years and have travled quite a bit to Indy. In my opinon Indy is a much nicer cleaner city. If you do pick Cincy I would also recomend staying in Newport. Vist Newport on the Levee this is a nicer area than downtown with some good resturants right on the river.

Indy also has a good comedy club downtown called Crackers.

Both are great cities. You mentioned in the other thread that you%26#39;ve been to Cincinnati before. In that case, I%26#39;d go with Indianapolis.

Carriage rides downtown at night are romantic. There are a number of good restaurants downtown. You can check www.indy.org to find one that suits your tastes.

The museums in the area are pleasant places to walk around and relax on cold days. Puck%26#39;s restaurant at the art museum is a pretty place for lunch, and the museum is free. For a small fee, you can also go through the Lilly mansion next door. http://www.imamuseum.org/

Even though the canal walk is chilly in November, the museums there are nice and warm. The Eiteljorg is one of my favorites. Definitely check out the steam clock and two story gift shop at the Indiana State Museum too.

If you would like to feel like a kid again drive north to the Indianapolis Children%26#39;s Museum, the world%26#39;s largest.

Coming from Columbus on 70, you%26#39;ll be passing right through Richmond, Indiana. I mention this because my favorite spa is there, and your wife might enjoy that as a birthday treat. It%26#39;s the Canteberry Spa in a historic mansion on Old National Road/US 40. The atmosphere is lovely and everyone I know who has been there has loved it.

I hope you have a wonderful time!

I see you%26#39;re from Columbus, (I%26#39;m originally a Buckeye, too) and I see that you%26#39;re leaving on Sunday, not that particular Saturday. So I think that it may be pertinant to mention that Indianapolis also has the NCAA Hall of Fame.

Aside from that, I%26#39;d agree with everything that has been said. Enjoy the big day!

Jmariegobucks is right. We do have the NCAA Hall of Champions. But it is closed temporarily due to a fire. It is scheduled to re-open by the end of this year, but keep an eye on their website. ncaa.org/hall_of_champions/global/home.htm
