Hotels near Lucas Oil Stadium

Hello!

We plan on staying downtown for the weekend of the Kenny concert this summer (2009). We are in between going here or Chicago for the show this year. (We have done Cleveland %26amp; Pittsburgh in the past).

Anyway, at this point, just weighing options. What nice hotels are in a nearby walking distance from the stadium and what other within walking distance attractions are there?

Thanks in advance for the info!

Hotels near Lucas Oil Stadium

There are plenty of good to excellent hotels within easy walking distance to Lucas Oil Stadium:

The Conrad (the best)

Westin

Omni

Courtyard by Marriott

Hilton

and many more

Indy is one of the most compact cities you%26#39;ll ever encounter, with a two decade design plan that has focused development to serve convention visitors. Within a six square block area you%26#39;ll find a significant number of the city%26#39;s better hotels, restaurants, and other attractions. Among the attractions:

Eiteljorg Museum (Native American and Western art)

NCAA Hall of Fame Museum

IMAX Theater

Indianapolis Zoo

Canal Walk

(all of the above within the White River State Park complex - about 4 blocks northeast of Lucas Oil)

Circle Center Mall

Slippery Noodle Inn (lively bar with live blues nightly)

Massachusetts Avenue Complex (about a fifteen minute walk from Lucas Oil - with many great restaurants and bars - the bavarian bar in the Atheneum at Mass. and Michigan is my favorite bar in the city)

Treat yourself to the Conrad and a meal or two at any of the dozens of very nice restaurants in the area, and take in one of the many attractions downtown - - you%26#39;ll be glad you did.

I%26#39;ll stack Indy up against Cleveland and Pittsburgh any day. Chicago? As much as I love Indy - it can%26#39;t compete as a destination with the incredible diversity and sheer numbers of alternatives of Chicago. Only three or four cities in the US can (NY, LA, San Francisco, ... that%26#39;s about it IMO).

I agree with Dave in Indy. Very good comments. Also check out indy.org for some good information on downtown hotels. I think he forgot Las Vegas?

There is a Holiday Inn Select a block away from Lucas Oil. And Yes, DaveInIndy made great comments

Excellent... I am sold on going to the concert in Indianapolis. Most of us have been to Chicago, there is definitely a ton there to do, however, the main focus is going to be the concert with a few little side trips to other attractions/restaurants. If we went to Chicago, we would probably be spending triple the money anyway. So, Indy it is when Kenny time rolls around!!

Thanks for the input!

I will have to see what the Conrad has to offer when it comes time to book.

The concert event the last of his tour and first in the new stadium was given poor reviews. Due to poor sound in the stadium. Hope next year he plays in the outdoor amphitheater where the sound is great. Just an FYI. Many people said they left early with pounding headaches due to the poor sound in the upper level seating.

Oh wow... thanks for telling me. I wasn%26#39;t thinking about it being an indoor stadium. I most likely will be checking elsewhere, unless he changes venues. What a disappointment....
