where to stay?

I am looking for a safe place close to both the airport and downtown area. I am not really picky but would like to be able to get up and walk in the morning without worrying about my safety. I will be there in January.

Probably downtown is the best. If the weather is too cold ou can walk inside The Circle Centr Mall

Agree with OB. Nothing close to the airport that%26#39;s anything more than a place to lay your head down for a night.

Downtown Indy is very compact - even in the dead of winter it%26#39;s easy to navigate the approximately 20 block square that contains most of what people are interested in doing on a visit - restaurants, entertainment, lively bars, etc. And much of the ';navigation'; can be accomplished indoors, in the event of inclement weather.

There are plenty of hotels, serving a wide range of tastes and budgets in that area, ranging from the high end Conrad to the budget-minded hotels (Holiday Inn, Hilton Garden Inn, etc.).

We stayed at the Hyatt Regency downtown. Great stay and much to do. Advise that you put a bid in on Priceline for the downtown area for a 3.5 star hotel.
