Hi all,
I will be in Indy this weekend with my son for some soccer games. We are staying at the Courtyard Capital, downtown. What would be some cool things for him to see or do? Are there any good shopping malls downtown or nearby? You know teenagers......
Any major sporting events??
Thanks!!

Hi SueZ. For shopping, there’s the Circle Centre Mall downtown; big place, lots of stores, movie theater. You could blow most of an evening in the mall and just walking around downtown. Walk over to Monument Circle. You can also walk along the canal which is pretty nice. The war memorial area is also a nice walk. Tons of restaurants. Jillian’s might be fun for a teenager – restaurant with a bunch of games. Hard Rock Cafe. A lot of the interesting stuff like museums, zoo, etc, probably won’t be open at night. Might be boring for a teenager anyway.
For sports, the Indianapolis Indians baseball team plays not far from your hotel, but sadly will be on the road Saturday night. They play at home on Friday night. It’s a great time and would be a top recommendation, but alas, it is not to be for Saturday. The Pacers are done for the season. The Colts are tanning on faraway beaches, I imagine.
Massachusetts Avenue has some interesting restaurants. Bazbeaux Pizza is a local favorite, as is Yats, a Creole place.
Here are a few useful links. There are a number of very knowledgeable Indy-ites who monitor this forum who could probably give you some solid ideas.
