Lodging question for this Friday (4/24)

Hi Everyone,

We are leaving West MI after work Friday, with an ultimate destination of Gatlinburg TN. We hope to stop for a short time in French Lick Indiana to see the resort, but have no intentions of spending the night. So if we leave Michigan approximately 4PM that puts us in Indianapolis around 8-9PM. Coming via I69. Could you all give me a few suggestion for a nights lodging for under $100? I think we could make southern Indy or maybe even down 37 heading to French Lick. All we need is a safe place to sleep. We are a family of 3 adults. Thanks I really appreciate the recommendations.

From I 69 I would consider driving south on 465 to maybe the beech grove exit. A couple of hotels there. Or you might consider tryinmg to make it to Bloomington which is down State Road 37 on the southside about an hour drive. Bloomington would be an easy drive to French Lick which would give you plenty of time to look around then head towrds TN. Plenty of hotels in Blomington right off 37

Lodging question for this Friday (4/24)

I like the idea of going to Bloomington as well. Fairfield Inn there has rooms with 2 beds for 119.00 + taxes. Hampton Inn has nothing for the 24th %26amp; Hilton Garden Inn is 200.+. There could be a special event that%26#39;s jacking up the rates. Seems too early for graduation. If I have any better ideas, I%26#39;ll post later.

If you get tired and decide not to go on to Bloomington that night or the south side of Indy, there are several hotels on I69 just as you are getting into Indy. There is a new Drury Inn at I69 and 82nd street exit, just before you get to I465. Very safe part of the city (there are not very many unsafe parts, especially on the outskirts of the city). Generally, their prices range right around $100 and I have always had great luck with Drury. I%26#39;m guessing a room with two beds on a Friday night will probably be around $130 if you book through the hotel, though. It will probably take you the better part of 30 minutes to clear Indy from there; I69 ends there at that point and becomes state road 37, but meanders through the city. It%26#39;s best to take 465 around the city if for no other reason than to avoid getting lost. You can pick up 37 again on the south side off 465.

If you bed down in Indy, I recommend you stay either on the north or south sides. I would not recommend hotels along 465 on the east side.

If you take Indyob%26#39;s advice and want to stop at the Beech Grove exit off I-465( exit 52), there is a brand new Holiday Inn Express and they have just recently remodeled the old Holiday Inn (LaQuinta now). There is also a Red Roof Inn, Motel 6, and Super 8.

Thanks everyone, I really appreciate the help!

Could be Little 500 weekend if I%26#39;m not mistaken. Also could try the 31 south exit or East street just past Beech Grove the Greenwood area. Some nice hotels around I-465 area. Bloomington Little 500 weekend is THE biggest party weekend of the school year. Right before everyone graduates or leaves for the summer.

Oh my goodness. Is there anyway to verify if this is a ';special'; weekend in Bloomington? I have no idea if we can make it that far, but it certainly is possible. Thanks for the heads-up.

Just searched the net and found that Little 500 is this weekend in Bloomington.

Thanks Saltydog67. I should have done that myself last night! Well I suppose we will definately avoid that town! Either stop before or drive on thru a bit further, depending on traffic etc. Thanks again.
