Lodging

We plan to travel to Madison in late May for our Anniversary and for my husband%26#39;s Birthday. The last time we were in Madison, we stayed at the Comfort Inn. We really want to stay downtown this time. This way, we can walk to the shops, river, pubs, etc. Any suggestions? We were thinking about the Riverboat Inn?

Lodging

I have not stayed at the Riverboat, but my Mom did last summer %26amp; really liked it. Each room is a little different. They stayed on the river side of the inn %26amp; had a great view of the Ohio River. It%26#39;s close to the Key West Shrimp House which is in an old button factory. I find their food to be average, but their menus have lots of historical information about Madison %26amp; the staff is great. Based on what I know, I highly recommend it.

Lodging

Honeymoon: This is not downtown in Madison, but you might consider the lodge at Clifty Falls State Park, which is right next to Madison. If you have never been to the park, it is one of my favorites in the state. I cannot personally vouch for the hotel there, but it might be a great alternative to the same-old same-old Comfort Inn/Days Inn/Cockroach Inn stuff. Here%26#39;s a link below. Pricing looks pretty reasonable. I have seen the view and it overlooks the river and Madison from the heights above Madison.

Hi Honeymoon,

I have stayed at the Cclifty Falls inn several times and it is very nice--good prices for what you get.

The very best rooms are the ones with the terrace overlooking the river. Breakfast buffet is extensive .
